National Arts Council (NAC) provincial manager Jephias Makumucha is appealing to all stakeholders to prepare for the national event. Exibitors and performers from all over the country will descend in the provincial capital for the weeklong event.

“We appeal to exhibitors and performers to register for the event as this is an opportunity for them to showcase their products to a wider range of people” said Makumucha.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Arts and Cultural Enteprenuership”.

Makumucha said NAC came up with the theme after a realisation that most people artists included are not aware that art is an industry that can make a person survive.

“People must view art as an industry that goes beyond just intertainment … we would want to share with artists that they must fully benefit from their work instead for other people to use their talents as a vehicle to make for themselves” said Makumucha.

Makumucha said the aim of the culture week is to encourage people and organisations to support diversity and inclusion in cultural practices and improve understanding and co-operation among people from different cultures.

Various groups which include Iyisa, Umkhosi theatre production, Umphumelelo Shining stars and last year Jikinya winners Zimbabwe Republic Police Tomlinson Depot Primary School will grace the occassion.
