FOLLOWING the successful show by Josh Meck who is arguably Zimbabwe’s top bass player and left handed jazz sensation about two weeks ago at The Mannenberg, Book café, Jive Zimbabwe, a music promotions company in consultation with the Book Café have decided to bring him back for yet another electric show on May 8 at the same venue.

The jazz maestro and petite Josh left revellers clamouring for more as he played some of his hits from his two albums that sold like hot cakes soon after the show.
It is very unusual for a bass guitarist to be also a lead vocalist of any musical band and this is what is most intriguing about this 31-year- old SA based musician.
Politician and jazz devotee Dr Herbert Murerwa and Health Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa who were part of the audience were mesmerised by the gifted left handed guitarist and could be seen nodding their heads as they enjoyed the rhythm from the bass guitar at a show dubbed “The Return”. Josh descended on the The Mannenberg stage with a powerful act that left revellers shouting for more.
Josh is a spectacle as he demonstrates his love for his guitar that he clutches like a highly prized possession.
“He is very humble, grounded, sober and no doubt different from musicians of his generation that are generally hooked on intoxicating substances. He is definitely a superstar in his own right,” a Zambian follower who travelled from Lusaka to watch him play said.
Josh relocated to South Africa in 2013 and has hit the SA’s music scene as he performs at some of the biggest shows in that country including the Arts Alive festival, Jazz on the Lake festival and Soweto Toyota Drumbeat festival. He has also featured so many times in a number of talk shows and SABC main news bulletins.

With a hectic tour schedule over the last few years Josh has wowed jazz music-lovers in many parts of the world with his extraordinary mastery of the bass guitar, and continues to surprise and impress his audiences at every turn.
With his backing band in full form which was comprised of Nick Nare, Prince Dzuwa, Culei Mukamuri, Vusa Mtunzi and the youngest member Silent Nqo who opened the last show with a stunning performance as well and his brilliant sound engineer Kudakwashe Sombi who delivered a stunning job in making the sound crispy, Josh earned himself a back by public demand concert.
Jive Zimbabwe director Benjy Nyandoro who also attended “The Return” concert said he was impressed with the pint-sized bass guitar genius. He said Josh Meck`s performance was polished as he exhibited maturity through experience from the international music scene that has had a huge influence on his music.
Nyandoro said he felt obliged through Jive Zimbabwe to fully sponsor the May 8 show adding that he has already started making logistical preparations for the show.
”With the high standards that he has already set at the last show, we as Jive Zimbabwe will be resourceful in making this concert dubbed back by public demand a successful concert,” Nyandoro said.
