Speaking from his base in Mashava, David Mubaiwa said the production was ready and would soon come to Harare to find ways of marketing the play.

“I am coming to Harare to market Sabhuku Vharazipi 3. I want to devise ways to thwart piracy,” said Mubaiwa.

The actor said they were constantly sharpening their marketing strategy so that they get the best revenue from their production.

“We virtually did not get anything from Sabhuku Vharazipi 1 but since we were cleverer, we did get something from the second edition. I hope the new play we will be smarter,” he said.

He said Sabhuku Vharazipi 3 has many surprises.

“We had many twist and turns in the play. We hope viewers will get captivated,” he said.

Sabhuku Vharazipi 3 is likely to have new faces since there was no a disagreement among the actors.

David Mubaiwa (Sabhuku Vharazipi) and Denis Rusoso (VaMayaya) fell out after the former pocketed all the money accrued from selling the copies of Sabhuku Vharazipi 2.

“It is almost a year after I last spoke to him. I heard that they did their production and I don’t care, we are currently working on our own production Sabhuku Vharazipi 3,” said Mubaiwa.

Rusoso said he was a bitter man after he was not given any money for his role in Sabhuku Vharazipi 2.

“We understand that Sabhuku Vharazipi sold 55 000 copies but we did not get a single cent.

They shared the money among the three of them David Mubaiwa, Wellington Chindara and Kumbirai Chikonye. Even the producers of the drama did not get even a single cent,” said Rusoso.

Producer of the drama series, Edward Chombe said he only get $600 after a hustle with the leading actors.

“The truth is that we had an agreement that I was supposed to get 8% of the sales but I did not get the money. I only got $600 after I had locked the room where we were doing the production at Flamboyant Hotel in Masvingo. It had to take the intervention of the owner of the hotel for me to get my money,” said Chombe.

However, he said: “All those disgruntled members have moved on. We have made a new production Mayaya — The Seed of Corruption — and we are happy with the response from the people,” said Chombe.
