ZIFA vice-president Omega Sibanda says the assembly and the board are fully behind their leader Cuthbert Dube following the extraordinary meeting held in Harare last Friday.

Dube emphasised unity in the board and the assembly in order to resuscitate the game of football in the country.
Said Sibanda: “We discussed the state of football in the country and the unity of purpose that is needed to drive it forward and that everybody involved must observe the constitution of Zifa.
“The assembly and the board backed the president and fully supports him as the mandate to lead Zimbabwean football came from them.”
The board has been accused of being divided and focusing on trivialities while the game of football was going down.
Sports deputy minister Tabetha Kanengoni-Malinga launched a spirited effort to remove Dube from office, but after a Fifa warming seems to have backed off.
Tomorrow, Sport, Arts and Culture minister Andrew Langa will appear in Parliament to talk about funding national sports teams and the national sports policy —an issue which has been raised as one of the major impediments in the development of sport in Zimbabwe.

Zifa has been losing properties to individuals and companies they owe, with the latest being former spokesperson Nicholette Dlamini-Moyo, who had Zifa property, including an artificial turf donated by Fifa for football development auctioned on Monday.
Dlamini-Moyo, now employed as spokesperson at Zimsec, was dismissed two years back.
Sibanda said the electoral committee also presented their report while the rules and regulations were adopted with the strategic plan set for adoption at the annual general meeting in April.
“The Electoral Committee said there were positions that were still vacant at the lower sides of the game, like in provinces and area zones that need to be filled as soon as possible.
“The rules and regulations, which had last been amended in 1996, were also presented, adopted and ratified and people were urged to abide by them.
“The strategic plan for 2014-18 was no adopted and was deferred to the AGM in April as some assembly members had not seen the draft document and hence need to make their input before the April meeting,” Sibanda said.
