The Green Machine arrived here on Friday night after enduring a punishing road trip of about 700km.

However, Thindwa, a popular figure in this town and one of the regular players who travelled for duty to defend the Zambezi cup last year, expresses confidence they can successfully defend their cup.

“We have come here to win. This is despite the fact that the team was split into two with the other one staying behind for the match against Highlanders. But we have a balance squad that can help us defend the trophy. But it will not be easy against Big Bullets.

They are the biggest team here and are playing in Africa. It’s the Dynamos of Malawi but we are very confident of winning. The new players we have here also want to prove themselves. It will be a very interesting match,” said the 23 year old.

Other experienced players to go into battle against Big Bullets include goalkeeper Itai Chiwara, the Malawi duo of midfielder Gerald Phiri and defender George Nyirenda. Charles Mutero and Carlos Mesi who were on the books of Chicken Inn and Shabanie Mine respectively are some of the players who have been recruited ahead of the new season and will be looking to make a mark in this cup final.

PervingtonZimunya-formerly with Shabanie Mine is also here. However, Thindwa who was the destroyer in chief last year scoring in the 1-1 draw against Silver Strikers in the semi-final that was decided by penalties with Caps United triumphing 5-4 before he decided the contest with the only goal in the final against Mighty Wanderers will be at the centre of attraction once again.

But then again, Big Bullets are coming from a morale boosting win over Comoros side Fomboni FC in the African Champions League first round yesterday and will be looking to add Caps United to their list of casualties.

Big Bullets, bankrolled by the country’s central bank, have veterans like Fischer Kondowe to look up to.

Winners of the match will walk away with 3m K (US$7000) with losers set to pocket 1m k (US$2300).
