STEWARD Bank on Wednesday officially opened its flagship Eastgate branch where it unveiled products developed in partnership with sister company EcoCash.

The bank launched the EcoCash Cash-Out and Airtime Top-Up products on the bank’s smart ATMs. With the EcoCash Cash-Out facility, customers — regardless of whether they bank with Steward Bank or not — are now able to perform cardless transactions such as cashing out, directly from their EcoCash wallets at the bank’s smart ATMs.
The Airtime Top-Up product allows Steward Bank cardholders to purchase Econet airtime, which is loaded directly to the buyer’s mobile phone without the need for a top-up voucher.
Speaking at the launch, Steward Bank acting CEO Lance Mambondiani said as a mobile operator-owned bank, they were maximising on their strengths to offer customers quality service.
“We want to allow ourselves to innovate our financial products on our digital platforms,” Mambondiani said.
He said the EcoCash uptake is just shy of a million customers and growing.
Head of EcoCash, Japhet Aritho said the company remained committed to providing innovative solutions to enhance the EcoCash experience at the Steward Bank ATMs, well after most agents have closed shop.
