An informed source said yesterday The Englishman, who had been expected to arrive in the country on Sunday, was expected in Harare last night.

“He is now expected in the country tonight (yesterday). The Press conference that had been scheduled for today (yesterday) has been postponed to Thursday (tomorrow). The coach is supposed to be there at the Press conference,” the source said.

The coach’s continued absence had been worrying the Caps United hierarchy with reports suggesting the 54-year-old coach had not been cleared by his former club Black Leopards of South Africa, who were said to be contemplating taking a legal action following his abrupt termination of his contract with the team.

Caps United’s pre-season training has been under the supervision of assistant coaches Brenna Msiska and Fungai “Tostao” Kwashi.

The club has been holding trials to try and tie up some players to deals following the departure of several players, including skipper Tapiwa Khumbuyani to How Mine.

The Harare club has also lost Tendai Samanja, Tafadzwa Dube, Nicholas Alifandika and Honey Chimutimunzeve, who all crossed to Harare City after the expiry of their contracts at the end of the year, while Kelvin Bulaji and Dominic Chungwa joined bitter rivals Dynamos. Charles Mukanhaire and Steven Makatuka have moved to last season’s league runners-up ZPC Kariba.
