Engelbert Masendeke (46) appeared before resident magistrate Taurai Manwere, facing charges of malicious damage of property after he allegedly vandalised property worth $50 belonging to Alpha Mishi over a $5 debt.

It is the State’s case that Masendeke in the company of his friend who is still at large went to Mishi’s house around 10pm on February 22 with the intention of collecting a debt of $5 which Mishi owed Masendeke’s friend.

After Mishi failed to settle the debt, Masendeke became angry and started destroying household property.

The State alleges Masendeke broke two DVD players by kicking and stamping on them while the owner watched helplessly.

Last week another Masendeke sibling Elliot was in court facing charges of assaulting a barlady, resisting arrest and another of assaulting two police officers .

The other brothers Edmund and Elson are facing a murder charge after they allegedly assaulted to death a Mbizo man in 2013 over a pool game gone wrong. Elder brother Edward was sentenced to death after he was convicted of various crimes, including murder.
