The grant saw the construction of 13 boreholes at eight health facilities and five schools in the district.

Speaking at the handover of a borehole at Banga Clinic on Thursday, Japanese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Yoshi Tendai Hiraishi said the boreholes would contribute to the improvement of the standards of living for local communities in terms of accessing to safe potable water.

“This is a very notable project as safe water is indispensable for safe delivery as well as proper treatment for patients. We have so far received exciting news from some clinics that the number of deliveries at those clinics increased since the installation of new boreholes,” Hiraishi said.

He said Japan has been actively supporting the provision of safe water throughout the country in areas such as Chivi and Chipinge districts.
