AFTER releasing a not-so-impressive debut album NdiJesu, contemporary gospel artiste Alvern Zhou has resurfaced with a new album to be launched on March 8 at the Lutheran Church in Mufakose, Harare.

The eight-track album, titled, It is Jesus Again, is — according to Zhou — a better offering than his first production.
“After the first album [NdiJesu] did not live up to expectations, I linked with other artistes to learn more and I decided not to repeat the blunder of producing my own music.
“The title-track [NdiJesu] has not changed, though it is in English, but the other seven tracks are new. I have no doubt and I am optimistic that gospel lovers would be impressed,” he said.
Zhou said he had gone against all odds, succumbing to passion, in necessitating a rebound despite his initially disappointing production which never found its way to the air waves.
“Passion for music has pushed me to bounce back even when my first work was not good enough, to say the least,” he added.
His latest album features some contemporary gospel musicians like Life Nechavava, Abraham Muchesa and his elder brother Mcdonald.

Sebastian Magacha inspired 25-year-old Zhou, who started his professional music career in 2013.
However, like most gospel musicians, Zhou started his singing in the church choir where he recalls stealing the hearts of many at a tender age of seven.
The mounting number of local gospel musicians has turned the genre into an arena where only quality can win the hearts of listeners and ascertain one’s prolonged existence in the industry.
Good relations with other artistes and marketing also come in handy for gospel musicians.
