In an emailed response to NewsDay, TelOne managing director Chipo Mtasa said they had engaged debt collectors and entered payment plans with clients as part of efforts to recover the outstanding amounts. “TelOne recovered more than $100 000 from its debtors last year.

This money was recovered through a number of internal means which included payment plan arrangements, and door-to-door engagements among other methods.

“Over and above this TelOne engaged a debt collector who was handed over a balance sheet of $58 million. To date, the debt collector has recovered at least $1, 6 million,” Mtasa said.

She said they were also negotiating flexible payment plans with debtors, adding civil servants could have their outstanding amounts deducted through the Salary Service Bureau.

Mutasa said the company was targeting a growth of 4% in its revenue streams as the company continues to focus more on data services as well as moving towards fixed-mobile convergence.

She also said the company this year held the “Talk, Surf and Win Reloaded Promotion” and the promotion proved to be a huge success for TelOne with a significant increase in the number of new subscriptions for both the Voice and ADSL broadband services over the period.

“The promotion surpassed responses for the previous promotion that we ran in 2013.

“The promotion, which was open to existing and new clients, generated a lot of excitement and activity from the market. TelOne used this platform to give back its loyal clients as evidenced by the grand draw prize winners who have been TelOne clients for over 10 years,” she said.
