WARRIORS striker Knowledge Musona got off the mark in the Belgian Premier Soccer League on Saturday with his first league goal for KV Oostende, but it was in vain as the team lost the match 3-1 to Sporting Charleroi.

According to reports from Belgium, Musona netted in the 77th minute to make the score 2-1 before the away side scored another goal late in the match for a comprehensive win.

Although he had scored for KV Oostende before, a brace in a friendly match in January, the Saturday goal was Musona’s first official goal in six appearances for his new club since his switch from the Bundesliga in the January players’ transfer window.

It has been a difficult start for the striker at Oostende as the weekend’s defeat was the fifth since Musona joined the club, and has also received a red-card in that period which was, however, later rescinded on appeal.

There was also a European goal for another Warriors man Silas Songani who came off the bench to score for his Danish side SønderjyskE for a 1-0 win over Quincy Antipas’ Hobro.

Songani made the huge difference of the match two minutes from time after coming in on the 71st minute as the former Harare City winger stole the bragging rights from Antipas who played the whole match. With the win, SønderjyskE opened a two point lead over Hobro, both teams not far off the relegation zone.

Still in Europe, Warriors striker Macauley Bonne also opened his goal scoring account over the weekend, guiding his English League One side Colchester United to a 3-2 win over Bristol City on Saturday.

The England born 19-year-old, who has a single Warriors cap and a goal in a friendly match against Morocco in November last year, scored the second goal for his team after 14 minutes to double his side’s lead.

It was Bonne’s first start for the team this season. He has made six appearances for the club this campaign.

The win saw Colchester moving out of the relegation zone on the 24-team league table after 32 rounds of matches.

In Netherlands, Marvellous Nakamba’s Vitesse won 2-1 away to Twente, to move into the Uefa Europa League spot with eight games remaining in the league.

However, the Warriors man did not make the travelling squad to Twente.

Meanwhile, Sweden-based Archford Gutu has been loaned out by his league side Kalmar FF back to second tier side IFK Värnamo.

Gutu had been training with Kalmar who are currently preparing for the upcoming season which starts next month and had hoped to impress the team’s technical bench.

However, it appears he did not do enough to convince the bench and has been sent back to the club where he spent last season on loan.

Closer home in Botswana, the wheels have surely come off for Madinda Ndlovu’s BeMobile side Township Rollers who were beaten 1-0 away to Notwane on Wednesday night in their third successive league defeat.

It becomes four defeats in all competitions if their 2-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the Caf Champions League’s factored in, and the fifth loss in the six games played since the beginning of 2015.

But ahead of the return leg against Kaizer Chiefs, Rollers beat BDF X1 in the Mascom Top Eight on Sunday.
