PRODUCERS of Kumasowe, an 80-minute-long film, have embarked on a national tour to take the film to different communities across the country.

The film will be screened at Midlands State University (MSU) in Gweru on March 1 and 2.
On the next day the film will have a community screening at Mutapa Shopping Centre before it is taken to Mkoba 16 and 22 on March 4 and 5.
The community screenings are supported by Hivos and Culture Fund Mobility grant.
Speaking to NewsDay, producer of the film Silvanos Mudzvova said they intend to market the film in different parts of the country before they release the DVD onto the market.
“As you know that our film is yet to hit the market, we have seen it as a wise idea to promote it by touring different parts of the country meeting fans and at the same time promoting our work,” Mudzvova said.
“We are going to stage shows in all the provinces in the country, but we are starting our tour with a screening at MSU, mainly to share ideas with students who are studying Theatre and Film and for them to have an appreciation of the film industry and how to make low-budget films like Kumasowe.”

Produced by Vhitori Entertainment, the film is a political satire that exposes how rife corruption is in the police force tackling serious issues of accountability, power abuse and brutality.
It chronicles the battering of several anti–riot police officers who had accompanied Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe president Johannes Ndanga to effect a ban on a Johane Masowe apostolic sect in Budiriro last year.
Mudzvova said if everything goes according to plan, the film will hit the market on April 1 and appealed for support from relevant authorities to produce about 100 000 copies and engage agents from across the country who will sell the DVD on commission so that at least they make strides towards fighting piracy.
Starring in the film is award-winning actress Nyaradzo Nhongonhema (Madzimai Spiwe), Valentine Tapi (Madzibaba Isaiah), Olivia Chipindu (Officer Chigubhu), Eddington Hatitongwe (Officer Chamvari) and Moses Kawara, who stars as Officer Kepekepe.
