The trio is among the 61 golfers who will be bidding for a place in the main field for the R 4, 5-million tournament which will be played across Fancourt Golf Resort’s three courses, namely The Links, Montagu and Outeniqua.

Chapman Golf Club based Howie, who won the Golden Pilsener Harare Open in 2013 will be making his first appearance in South Africa since missing the cut at the 2015 Sunshine Tour Qualifying School last month.

The former Zimbabwe amateur golf captain has been working hard on his game and will be confident of making the cut into the main field together with Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club’s Da Costa, who competes under the Portuguese flag.

McKinlay, who is the head professional at the prestigious Fancourt Academy, could also spring a surprise as he will have the advantage of playing on his home course.

Should the trio make the cut they will join fellow Zimbabwean golfers, Ryan Cairns and Mark Williams who are part of the main field for the lucrative tournament which tees off on Thursday.
