POLICE have warned residents of Harare to be vigilant and secure their properties at night after the capital city experienced a sudden rise in break-in cases where burglars targetted electrical gadgets and food.

National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of criminals who are targeting certain residential areas in Harare and other parts of the country to commit unlawful entry and theft cases.”
Nyathi added: “The criminals are pouncing on occupants as they will be fast asleep and target valuables such as groceries, clothes, cellphones, televisions, decoders and other items.”
He said that the most affected suburbs were Hillside, Cranborne and Braeside with the suspects believed to be based in Epworth.
“We would like to warn anyone who habours any criminals in their houses that the law will catch up with them as police have stepped up surveillance on the movement of criminals in the country,” Nyathi said.
