2014 can easily be described as one of the dry years of Zimbabwean music as there were few success stories to talk about. Below are the five top musicians of the year.
1. Tocky VibesWe have to give it to him, the young man emerged to rock the country with his uniquely different lyrics. Despite his controversial show antics at the hyped Harare International Conference Centre 2014 shutdown show last month, Tocky remains 2014’s most popular musician. He deserves the top post! Aenda nenyika!
2.MokoombaThe Afro-fusion group has continued to carry the flag of Zimbabwe abroad with their quality music and performances. They deserve the top honour.
3. Jah Prayzah. The musician kept his head above the water with the well attended live shows. Although his last album, Kumbumura Mhute, was critiqued as poorly baked and not different from his previous releases, it partially dominated the market as there were no major new album releases in the year.
