His local manager, Mlungisi Moyo yesterday said Mahachi’s club Mamelodi Sundowns has not come out with an official position on the player, dismissing speculation that the speedy left linkman could be returning to Highlanders this month on loan.

“I cannot confirm that. We cannot make a hasty move. Mamelodi Sundowns has not come up with a position. What happened is that the player got injured during the course of the season and there are people who may want things to turn out that way (for Mahachi) to come to Bosso). We want the player to grow and until Sundowns come out with an official position, we do not want to sound as if he failed. He featured for Sundowns and then he got injured,” Moyo said.

The 21-year-old Mahachi, who went on trials with French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in July, signed a five-year contract with the Brazilians at the beginning of the year, but was loaned to Highlanders, moving to South Africa in mid-season.

He made six appearances for the Absa Premier Soccer League champions and was on target once against Moroka Swallows.
