Khaya Moyo, now dubbed the ruling party’s “mute” spokesperson, said the former Presidential Affairs minister should accept the fact that he was now an ordinary card-carrying Zanu PF member.

He was “officially” responding for the first time to Mutasa’s statement last week where he signed off as the bona fide Zanu PF secretary for administration.

“Cde Mutasa’s statements are, therefore, extremely absurd in the circumstances. He needs to appreciate and come to terms with the fact that he is no longer Zanu PF’s secretary for administration. His feeble attempt to dismiss a constitutionally convened congress is ridiculous in the extreme and needs to be dismissed, as we hereby do, with the contempt it deserves,” Khaya Moyo said.

He described Mutasa’s attempts to discount the congress as “deeply worrying” since he was the one who organised it in accordance with the party’s constitution. He said Mutasa was involved at different stages of convening the congress, but only missed the main event on health grounds. presser
