The Hitchhiker is billed to be opened at Koova Creative Hub on January 22.

Speaking to NewsDay, SoProfound said: “The whole essence behind the title is the metaphor of a hitchhiker as compared to life where a hitchhiker does not know how his/her journey would be like, but only knows of their destination. This is synonymous with life where one does not know how it will be like, but is aware of the destiny.”

The exhibition is the first that collaborates photography and spoken word.

A picture on exhibition will be complemented by a poetry piece that relates with the picture. On the night of the launch the invited art stakeholders and other people from all walks of life will listen to the poet.

One such performance to look forward to is the piece about the entire exhibition that will also be supplemented by a musical performance from a guest artiste.

Banda said he was excited about the exhibition.

“Such an exhibition can be likened to an album launch for a musician. In this exhibition that is billed to run until January 27, we seek to represent the concept that life is a journey visually and through poetry.”

He said there will be 15 pieces on display at the exhibition. SoProfound has toured the region and has over the years grown to be a house hold name in the poetry circles.
