Over a decade later the musician is still going strong and it looks like there is no stopping for Enock ‘Exquizite’ Munhenga aka Ex-Q despite life’s ups and downs.

He recently released two singles and NewsDay got in touch with him to catch up on what has been going on in his life of late.

ND: Briefly describe your two new singles.
EXQ: The two new singles out are title The Way featuring Roki and the second one is Pore Pore again with Roki and Nesto as well. Beautiful songs. In these singles we made a unique combination of afropop and old school hip hop to give it a refreshing sort of vibe.

ND: What kind of response have you received from the public so far?
EXQ: I won’t lie, the feedback has been awesome. The fans are really loving this new sound and we are grateful radio has also been giving us quite some significant airplay so I’m happy about that. We are looking to make some good videos to go with the vibe that the singles give, its only deserves that we do that.

ND: When was your last album release and what is the title of the new one to be released?
EXQ: In 2014 I released a mix tape and the title of the new album is still a very hot topic between me and my team so hopefully we should have a title soon.

ND: When can the album be expected? Describe it giving its title and contents.
EXQ: The album should be released commercially at the end of February 2015 although some singles off the album have already been released. We are still contemplating on how to structure the album because there are over 27 songs that we feel can all make it to the album, but I think we might have to cut down to about 15 or so.

ND: What can the locals expect from you this year compared to the previous years?
EXQ: Not meaning to sell any dreams to my fans, but 2015 is looking very promising particularly on the collaborations aspect. We are planning to make some really bold moves this year hopefully God will smile on us and it will happen.

ND: Any collaborations to look forward to?
EXQ: Yes, definitely. I have done a few local collaborations that I’m certain may come as a surprise to many, but trust they are amazing. Also, we are working flat out to tap into our regional networks and do collaborations with some East African and South African artists. I have one Tanzanian artist and 1 South African artist on my radar for this year.

ND: What are your solo plans for 2015?
EXQ: Yes. 2015 will have to be a barrier breaking year as we aim to do new things that I hope my fans will love.

ND: Did the break off of your marriage over a year ago have any influence to your new music?
EXQ: Ummm I don’t think so, but if it did it must have been positive. That notwithstanding, let it suffice to say I always strive to keep my work and my personal life as separate as possible, although you know how in this business you can never really succeed at that. The aim is to just continue working hard and provide the best music for my fans.

ND: Where are you now in terms of love, relationships, parenthood and marriage?
EXQ: I will not mince my words here. I will ALWAYS be a dedicated and committed father no matter what. My two beautiful children Trey and Tiara are my sunshine and will always be top priority in my life. That’s all I can say about that.
