The former Caps United man replaces Timothy “Sicho” Masachi who was his assistant in the last campaign.

Goalkeepers coach Peter Masibhera survived Bambo’s axe. Buffaloes secretary general Arnold Gatsi could not furnish this publication with the reasons for Masachi’s sacking.

“The head coach chooses his own assistants and he opted for Takaringofa and Masibhera. That is what he told us in a meeting recently. The coach last season had told us to expect some changes, the coach is starting his own season so he should be given his chance,” he said.

“We also have Eddie Dube who will be helping to develop our junior policy programme,’’ he added.

Masachi, director of La Sakubva junior football club in Mutare, had been the Buffaloes assistant coach since the club won the premiership promotion in 2011.

He worked in the same capacity when the team got promoted into the top-flight league under the stewardship of Saul Chaminuka, Luke Masomere and Chunga.
