Speaking during the launch of the TSA in Chinhoyi last week, AfDB country representative Mateus Magala said the grant will go a long way in enhancing tourism activities and create employment for the youths involved in the sector.

“The grant of $1,4 million unveiled at this Tourism Statellite Account will enhance tourism activities and job creation in the tourism sector as the direct beneficiaries,” Magala said.

Speaking at the same event, Tourism secretary Florence Nhekairo said: “The AfDB grant came at the right time when we are trying to measure the performance and impact of tourism sector within the national economy.”

The old system only measured revenue generated by hotels and restaurants while the new system also measures total domestic tourists and employment generated.
