DYNAMOS received a major boost yesterday after striker Rodreck Mutuma and winger Russel Madamombe trained with the champions at Prince Edward School although reports suggested a deal was far from being be sealed between the two parties.

Mutuma, who has not been training with his former team since they started their pre-season preparations two weeks back, said he was happy to be back training with the team.

“It’s a good feeling. What I can only say is that I am back at training with the boys. For issues to do with my contract, you speak to the manager. He is handling that. I am just here for training,” the lanky striker said.

His agent Edzai Kasinauyo said they were close to sealing a deal. “The deal is close. I have met with Dynamos, but I now want to meet with him (Mutuma) to discuss the possibilities that are there. I have told him we have to meet and discuss those possibilities,” Kasinauyo said.

Madamombe’s manager Gibson Mahachi also said there they had made headway in the negotiations.

“There is progress in the negotiations, but we can only say it’s done when there is a contract. We hope the deal will be finalised soon,’ said Mahachi.

Dynamos secretary-general Webster Chikengezha said the deal was almost 99% done.

“We are almost 99% done with Russel. What is just left now is for the parties to sign a contract, but as for Rodreck Mutuma, we are still worlds apart. We met with his management team, but there is not much progress,” Chikengezha said.

Dynamos have been trying a number of new players hoping to land at least three strikers as they seek to bolster their attack ahead of the new campaign.

With former Caps United striker Kelvin Bulaji, Patrick Khumbula, Clive Kawinga and Anesu Gondo, who is recovering from injury sustained in the last campaign, the Dynamos strike force appears lightweight.

However, their targets, who include Newton Katanha and Misheck Mburayi, failed to make the cut with only former Black Mambas forceful forward Kasimero Chimbadzwa passing the trials.

Chimbadzwa, who spent the last season with Division One side ZRP FC, finished as the top goalscorer in the second-tier league, scoring an incredible 20 goals.

However, Dynamos, who have revealed they need at least three more strikers, will be hoping that Mutuma and Simba Sithole will get their contracts extended.

Sithole and midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike, one of their targets, did not report for training yesterday although there is hope they could bounce back.
