Two pupils from Rutope Secondary School in Musana Communal lands near Shamva are battling for life and another is missing after lightning struck them while they were on their way from school on Tuesday afternoon.

A villager, Bessie Kapfurutsa told NewsDay’s AMH Voices that at the time of the lightning strike, the three pupils were crossing Nora river bridge, about a kilometre from their school along the Harare-Shamva Road.

Kapfurutsa said the missing child is suspected to have been forced into a river by the impact of the lightning and a search has for him has since been launched by the villagers.

The two have been taken to a nearby Rutope Clinic.

Police were not immediately available for comment.
