TOP Zimbabwean junior golfer Kieran Vincent inched closer to the leaders in the third round of the 51st Junior Orange Bowl International Golf in Coral Gables, Florida yesterday.

After an impressive second round display on Monday, 17 year-old Vincent continued his brilliant run of form, carding one-over par 73 in the third round for a total of level-par 213.
The talented St John’s College schoolboy is tied for seventh position at the 54-hole mark at the Biltmore Golf Club and was just three shots off the pace ahead of the final round last night (Zimbabwean time).
Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann share the lead at three-under par 210 after streaming past second-round leader Giovanni Tadiotto, who carded 77 for a 7th place tie.
Zimbabwe’s other representative at the prestigious tournament, Stuart Krog rose three spots to a tie for position 28 after firing a three-over 74.
Vincent picked up one birdie on the front nine to offset two drops, but a bogey at the 10th took him back to level par.
Another drop at the par-three 12th and a double at the par-four fifth dropped the 17-year-old to one over for the tournament after the front nine.

After two more dropped shots at the 12th and the 14th, Vincent rallied with consecutive birdies at the par-four 19th and the par-five 18th to finish the loop in 36 strokes.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s number two ranked amateur Tristen Strydom is the second highest African on the leaderboard in a tie for position 16 on three-over par 216 ahead of his compatriot Paul Boshoff, who is tied for position 28 on eight over par 221.
The Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship is one of the most competitive amateur tournaments in the world and boasts an impressive alumni list including former world number one Tiger Woods and two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson among others.
