TSHWANE — South African football giants Mamelodi Sundowns technical team will be holding thumbs that some of the eight injured players will be ready for today’s critical Tshwane Derby against SuperSport United.

Downs are sweating over the injuries of Cuthbert Malajila, who is nursing a hamstring injury, while Katlego Mashego is still recovering from a quad strain, the club said on their official website.

The midfield has also been affected with Elias Pelembe still carrying a quad strain that was aggravated on international duty. Percy Tau is slowly making progress on his knee ligament strain and is now on the third week injured.

At the back is where The Brazilians have a lot of headaches.

Captain Alje Schut suffered a quad strain at training, while Mario Booysens has a groin injury.

Mzikayise Mashaba will hope to recover in time from the calf strain that saw him miss the Bafana Bafana match against Ivory Coast. Still in the left back position Tebogo Langerman will be unavailable for the Derby as he still serves his suspension.

Mpumalanga Black Aces will look to claim the three points when they honour their Absa Premiership date against Chippa United tonight at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

AmaZayoni are desperate for three points to move up the log table following their two losses at the hands of Polokwane City and Bidvest Wits. They occupy position nine with 16 points and the visit to Port Elizabeth is a mission for redemption.

However, looking at the Chilli Boys, they aim to reach the top three as they plan to continue winning at home on the back of a victory against Free State Stars. Roger Sikhakhane’s boys are sitting at position four having bagged 20 points and a good winning run at home is their definite target.

Clive Barker’s weapon in attack, Tendai Ndoro, revealed that they’re ready for the battle in PE and they cannot afford to slip up again.

“We’re ready for the trip to Port Elizabeth and we’ve done all we could in our preparation for this encounter,” said Ndoro.
