The festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday while Doc Vikela is penned in to perform on Friday at Nicoz Diamond in the capital.

Doc Vikela yesterday said Paif would be an event with a difference as he comes armed with topical content.

“If you have watched my DVD Trust Me, I am a Doctor you will attest that it carries topical issues that are on the market right now. Some of it may be unpleaseant of course, but those are the issues we are grappling with currently,” he said.

“There is a lots of stuff that may even anger us in the economic sphere, political scene and many others but we are saying let us come and protest. But our protest is we want to laugh at these things.

“It is a celebration of course for us as comedians, but it is time for us to protest about things that we see every day.”

Doc Vikela will perform solo on Friday while fellow comics Michael K and Lewis the Prince of Comedy are scheduled to perform on Saturday at the same venue.

Real name Victor Mpofu, Doc Vikela is credited with the creation of Simuka Comedy, a club that has been grooming upcoming comedians.

Together with co-founder Simba The Comic King they have taken the long forgotten trade back to the fore.
