KNOWLEDGE Musona has finally joined Belgium top-flight football league side KV Oostende from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, ending months of speculation as to where the striker will be playing next season. The news was first confirmed by Oostende chairman Marc Coucke on social media yesterday morning.

“Welcome to our #worldploegsje @KMusona, Zimbabwe international striker, hero in South-Africa, now star of Ostend!,” posted Coucke on his Twitter handle. The 24-year-old signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Oostende was home to Musona’s fellow Warriors striker Nyasha Mushekwi where he spent last season on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. On its official website, the club wrote: “Marc Coucke has just announced the first winter transfer for KV Oostende. It involves striker Knowledge Musona, a Zimbabwean international. Musona is an attacker who often shook the nets in the South African competition.

“In the 2010-2011 season he was top club Kaizer Chiefs top scorer of the league. He then played in first division Hoffenheim in Germany and he was loaned to Augsburg. In the 2013-2014 season he went on loan back to Kaizer Chiefs. He scored 8 goals in 19 games.

“This season trained Musona again along with the German first division Hoffenheim, but he was no longer in action.

“The 24-year-old Musona will from January 1 be used for KVO. He is also international, but Zimbabwe did not qualify for the African Cup of Nations. Therefore, the West Flemings have their new-fangled attacker not to be missed during the tournament.”

Musona’s representative Mike Makaab said he is happy that his player has finally secured a club after spending six months on the wilderness.

“We’re thrilled. First and foremost we want to thank Kaizer Chiefs and their supporters for their part in his career, and for Hoffenheim for realising his potential. Things didn’t work out in Germany, but it was a great experience for him overall.

“He wanted to stay in Europe and as his representatives we had to make that happen. Oostende is a great opportunity for him to show what he’s capable of. I want to thank Marc Coucke and everyone at Oostende for giving him this opportunity,” Makaab was quoted by the South African media yesterday. Musona’s move has put to bed speculation about his future.

Kaizer Chiefs had publicly stated that they wanted him back and reportedly made inquiries to Hoffenheim on his availability for a possible switch in the January transfer window.

Reports had suggested that the Naturena side had made Musona their number one priority in the upcoming transfer window.

Other reports had also suggested that a number of teams in Netherlands had made enquiries on his availability.

The latest move will also certainly end what has been a terrible experience for Musona in the last six months at Hoffenheim where he had been frozen out of the team.

And the latest news will obviously thrill most Warriors fans who had longed to see their star man return to action.
