Muparutsa (27) was convicted for killing Evison Rimai (20) on November 17 last year at Five Streams Farm compound in Penhalonga.

The court heard that on the fateful day, Rimai was in the company of others at the compound discussing social issues when Muparutsa stabbed him with a knife, accusing him of having bolted out of his house through the window after being cornered.

In his defence, Muparutsa said he suspected that Rimai was having an affair with his wife and after confronting him, the latter had bragged about the relationship.

He said those remarks caused him to commit the heinous act.

However, the court dismissed his arguments, saying they lacked merit and were not corroborated by any of the witnesses who testified in the matter.
