MOSES Chunga believes surviving relegation is in Buffaloes’ hands as they prepare to face a weakened Hwange side that has three key players suspended in Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at Sakubva Stadium on Sunday.

David Boriwondo, Rodwell Chinyengetere and Gerald Ndlovu have each accumulated three yellow cards and will miss the last game of the season.

Just like last season, the army side survived relegation on the last day of the campaign and they are banking on achieving a similar feat.

On Sunday, a defeat against Hwange and a win for Harare City, Shabanie Mine or Black Rhinos will send them packing to the Eastern Region Division One League.

Harare City will be at home against Chicken Inn, while Shabanie Mine will take on equally relegation-haunted Triangle in a blockbuster tie at Gibbo Stadium. Black Rhinos will be hoping to dispatch relegated Bantu Rovers in Kadoma.

Buffaloes are lying on the 11th position with 36 points, Harare City are on the 12th position with 35 points, while Shabanie Mine occupy 13th position with 35 points, but with an inferior goal difference to the Masimba Dinyero-coached side.

Rhinos have amassed 34 points and are occupying 14th position.

“We are treating the match as our last breath and we should collect maximum points by all means. There are no two ways about that. We are happy because the destiny is in our hands, so definitely we should survive relegation,” Chunga said.

“We should be optimistic and the players know it very well that we need to win this match and this is my gospel to them the entire of this week,” he added.

Buffaloes will be pinning their hopes on their top player this year, midfielder Tafadzwa Mombeshora, veteran striker Jacob Muzokomba and exciting dribbling wizard Roy “Apama” Mwenga.
