UNITED Kingdom-based music promoters One Heritage Promotions say while they are proud of the impact that Zimdancehall has made on the music scene in the UK, they have reservations on some of the lyrics used by the artistes.

CHRISTOPHER MAHOVE OWN CORRESPONDENT Benjamin Kanokanga aka Banjo vibes and Osa Chirwa, who run One Heritage Promotions, will be on a month-long tour of the country to scout for raw Zimdancehall talent.

“We have to stress the need for Zimdancehall artistes to start being responsible with some of their lyrics as a lot of youngsters and even some elder music fans now look up to them as role models.

“It’s good to party, but also drop positive vibes to strike a balance and it’s high time Zimbabwe reggae music stepped up,” Osa and Banjovibes said in a statement.

The two, were born and bred in Dzivarasekwa township and are now based in London, will be jetting into the country on today and are expected to tour several towns and cities to scout for talent.

They have been working with artistes from the Dangerzone Clan and have hosted some of the artistes in the UK.

“We have so far hosted artistes who have performed at various venues in the UK, among them Freeman, Dhadza D, Lady Squanda, Loud H, Jay C, Lady Bee, Lewaz Skattah, Cally C and Ras Pompy,” they said in a statement.

One Heritage Promotions, which is also the headquarters for the talented Dangerzone Clan, said they were excited about this trip as they would get to meet all the Zimdancehall artistes from across the country.

They said a welcome party, which will also present artistes from the Dangerzone Clan with a rare opportunity to share the stage, would be hosted in Dzivaresekwa.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the movement from day one. It will be nice to finally meet the whole family face to face.

“November 1 has been dedicated as the day for a welcome party for the promoters and a big line-up of artistes has been put in place; some of them known and other upcoming such as Kilamani from Kwekwe who is making noise right now.

“Also performing will be Lewaz Skattah from Gweru aka 12 Bullets Governor,” they said in the statement.
