Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, the Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia and hosts Zimbabwe are expected to take part in the biannual competition.

Local organising committee (LOC) chairperson Khonzani Ncube confirmed that they would meet this morning at a local hotel. “They are no longer coming today (yesterday) from Botswana because their flight was delayed. We are now expecting the 11 representatives in line with our sub-committees tomorrow morning (today).

“We are going to have a meeting at a local hotel. Region V secretary-general Mvuzo Mbebe should be in Bulawayo by October 19 to see the level of preparedness of ROC and LOC,” she said.

Games marketing director Kennedy Ndebele on Tuesday told this publication that the games draw will be held on October 24.

Sporting disciplines that will be on offer are athletics, boxing, basketball, football, judo, swimming and netball. Team Zimbabwe will go into camp in Bulawayo next month before the sporting extravaganza kicks off early December.

Bulawayo Athletic Club, Bulawayo City Pool, Barbourfields Stadium, Luveve and White City Stadium are some of the games venues.
