According to the rankings released by Fifa yesterday, the Warriors are now ranked number 92 in the world. They were previously on position 90 in the world. However, they remained static at number 24 in Africa.

Their fall on the rankings is attributed to the inactivity after Zifa disbanded the Warriors following the disastrous elimination from the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifier to be staged in Morocco.

Zimbabwe crashed out after a disappointing 2-2 home draw against continental minnows Tanzania in the first round, second leg of the qualifiers at the National Sports Stadium in June. They had been edged 1-0 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, thus they bombed out 3-2 on aggregate.

This meant the Warriors have to wait for the next two years to try their luck again in the continental championships to be staged in 2017.
