Zhuwao is the wife of President Robert Mugabe’s nephew and politburo member Patrick Zhuwao.

Party sources said the meeting was immediately adjourned following the incident as police rushed to cordon off the venue and disperse the gathering.

Sources said the two had a heated debate over the manner in which minutes of the previous meeting had been captured with Zhuwao allegedly claiming that they did not reflect what actually transpired.

In a fit of rage, Zhuwao charged towards Mliswa and slapped him once, before other members intervened.

“This is pointing to worse things considering that recently he [Mliswa] had another nasty run-in with Mai [Constance] Shamu [wife of Information Communication Technology minister Webster Shamu] during a PCC (provincial co-ordinating committee) meeting.

He is falling into a trap and very soon he might lose the chairmanship,” one source said.

Zhuwao confirmed the incident, but declined to give further details, saying she would issue a statement later.

Mliswa was, however, not reachable as his mobile phone went unanswered.

In 2010, Zhuwao’s wife was involved in another public brawl when she allegedly punched MDC-T MP Bednock Nyaude during a constitutional outreach meeting in Kadoma.
