Black Rhinos aim to stop Triangle

BLACK Rhinos coach Jostein Mathuthu says they are hoping to beat Triangle today at Ascot Stadium and advance to the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup.

However, Mathuthu said Triangle are a much improved side in the second half of the season, confident because they are in the final of the One Wallet Cup, but said he hoped for a positive result this afternoon.

He said he hoped his boys would not be blinded by the fact that they beat giants Dynamos in the first round of the tournament.

“Triangle is a good side and has been doing well in cup tournaments. They are in the final of the One Wallet Cup and they are a transformed side if you look at the way they played in the first half of the season and the second half. They are better and stronger. We are both playing in unfamiliar territory and it’s going to be tough but we are looking forward to getting something out of it,” Mathuthu said.

He said Rhinos will miss defender Obey Gada, who was shown the red card by referee Batsirayi Muchenje together with Dynamos forward Rodreck Mutuma after the two were involved in a scuffle in the first round of the tournament at Gwanzura on August 17.
“Our defence will be a bit shaky without Gada. He is a solid young man and we are going to miss him,” Mathuthu said.

Nesbert Padzorondora’s shot deflected off Stephen Matsangaise five minutes before full time to beat Dynamos goalkeeper Artwell Mukandi on August 17 for Rhinos who also have in camp Wonder Kapinda, Lot Chiwunga, Brian Muzondiwa, Simon Choenda, Bruce Homora and Wilson Chakanyuka.

Triangle, who beat FC Platinum 2-0 in their last league match at Gibbo Stadium are in the final of the One Wallet Cup after beating Chicken 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-final at Mandava on August 30.

Nhamo Lameck, Praise Tonha, Brian Juwayeyi, Tinei Chitora, Charles Rukwani, Nelson Meson, Jimmy Tigere, Jimmy Dzingai and Cabby Kamhapa are some of the players that coach Biggie Zuze will hoping to carry the day for him against Black Rhinos today.
