The tour becomes only the artiste’s second after a disastrous attempt to tour of Mozambique that resulted in the death of two of his group members in a road accident in that country.

He was to participate in the Sauti Za Busara Festival in Tanzania last year before cancelling a Mexican tour due to financial challenges.

Apama told NewsDay he was thrilled to get this opportunity after several dreams were shattered.

“It is a very encouraging experience to be touring this time around with my group and we pray no horror is trailing us. I am grateful to among other sponsors Biggie Chinoperekwei of Devine Assignments who has assisted me in funding this tour,” said Apama.

“I will be having several performances at the same venue, but the most thrilling will be the collaborations alongside popular rock star Shaky Russel on whose set I will dance.”

He was expected to perform with his group on Sunday with other upcoming performances on September 1, 2, 4 6 and 7.

“While in South Africa I will also be performing alongside superstar Oliver Mtukudzi at Boksburg Hotel on Friday,” he said.

Organiser of the trip Lovemore Muzavazi said Apama had started on a good note wowing revellers at the venue.

“I received a message from the proprietor of the venue who is very happy that we have managed to give him the right kind of performers,” said Muzavazi.

“The first show they had on Saturday was just an invitation to showcase what they can do in just an hour and the audience loved it.

“The clientele that side likes creativity and perfected art and that is what Apama does.

“I have been following him for some time and I can say they are creative, organised and credible.”
