Among many other programmes Zimbabweans will now be able to watch are the poupular series Being Mary Jane, an American programme that has become popular in Zimbabwe which makes reference to women that made headlines in Zimbabwe for stealing sieman from men and acting it over through the actress, Gabrielle Union.

Packed with trendy and relevant programming, BET will be available on all DStv bouquets and will combine chat, drama, reality, documentary, comedy, music, movies and focus programmes such as The Wendy Williams Show, Being Mary Jane, Real Husbands of Hollywood, The BET Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, BET Honours, 106 & Park, Sunday Best and Vindicated.

“We are adding channels that we know our subscribers will love,” said MultiChoice Zimbabwe public relations and publicity manager Liz Dziva.

The new channels are part of a broadening of content on DStv by Viacom International Media Networks, which brings BET International together with Nick Jr, Nicktoons to viewers across Africa from Tuesday.

Dziva said that with the introduction of the new channels VIMN Africa now delivered more channels to African viewers than any other international media company, with a total of eight distinct entertainment brands: MTV, MTV Base, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and VH1 Classic.

“DStv audiences can look forward to even more exciting and entertaining content with this new development,” she said.

Launching on Channel 135, BET International is a fun and inspirational channel that will appeal to lovers of black culture aged between 12 and 49 years.

Young children’s entertainment will be enhanced by Nick Jr, set to launch on DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact bouquets on channel 307, providing safe and entertaining viewing for pre-schoolers up to five years of age. “This channel promises to keep young ones glued to their screens with familiar friends such as Dora the Explorer, Bubble Guppies, Go, Diego, Go! and Paw Patrol, with a host of brand new series due to launch in 2015, including Dora & Friends, Blaze and the Monster Machines, and Shimmer & Shine,” added Dziva.

Nicktoons will become available on channel 308, offering a mix of current and classic programmes appealing to family viewers of DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact. It will feature series from Nickelodeon’s famous animation library, including The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, TUFF Puppy, Back to the Barnyard, Avatar and Fanboy & Chum Chum, and time-honoured favourites such as Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys.

Dziva said the said the three new channels would give DStv customers an even wider variety of entertainment options.

“We are delighted that BET is finally available on DStv and we know children will be entertained for hours with the great shows on Nick Jr and Nicktoons.
