“I have T-shirts that I can give to few people as I want to shoot some scenes of my video and will merge them,” Kalado said in his Patois tone at a Press conference on Thursday.

Kalado, born Eton Gordon in 1984 in Kingston, Jamaica, has been one of the rising dancehall stars on the Jamaican and global dancehall scenes in recent years since catching the eye of producer Scatta Burrell during the 2008 edition of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall  television show.

The young Kalado soon caught the attention of dancehall legend Bounty Killer who invited him three years ago to become a member of Alliance Next Generation (ANG), his select group of rising dancehall artistes.

Kalado’s fortunes on the dancehall scene have flourished under the wings of Bounty Killer.

His increasing repertoire includes hits like Good Good, Body Nuh Dead, Make Me Feel, Sad Streets, Pree Money, Pay Dem No Mind, Bad Inna Bed and Take A Ride.

At the moment, Kalado is receiving a lot of airplay in Jamaica and other countries with his rendition of P-Square’s Personally.

At the show, the Make Me Feel   hit-maker will share the stage with several local artistes, among them Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Tocky Vibes, Freeman, Lady Squanda, King Shaddy, Dadza D, Guspy Warrior, Shinsoman, Ninja Lipsy, Killer T, Kinnah, Empress Shelly, Terminator, Platinum Prince, Crystal, Cello Culture, Maffcat, Magikal, Legend Elly, Killa Trilla and Kay Cee.

However, the absence of some of the local performers at the Press conference held on Thursday when Kalado arrived sent some tongues wagging with rumour being that the organisers of the show was yet to conclude the contractual agreements with the artistes as chanter of the moment, Tocky Vibes, was the only performer to attend the presser.

Digital One International boss Luther Malvern Pazvakavambwa, who brought in the Jamaican chanter, said fans must not panic as they had done all the procedures for the local artistes to perform.

“Everything is in order and what is only left is for the artistes themselves to deliver their acts,” Pazvakavambwa said.

Winky D manager told NewsDay that their fans must be calm as they would be performing at the show.

“We failed to make it to the Press conference because it was a short notice and Winky D was busy with rehearsal. I want to urge our fans to come in their numbers and see the Ninja President in action,” Banda said.

The show will be a major test for Tocky Vibes who is currently enjoying a purple patch as one of the gifted rhymers in the genre sharing the stage with Winky D for the first time.

After being barred from performing at City Sports Centre recently, Tocky Vibes, who has won the hearts of fans through his well-thought lyrics that relate to ordinary people and everyday life, is expected to set the house on fire.

Tocky raises consciousness in songs such as Simudza Maoko on the Body Slam Riddim, Amai and Vakatisiya, among others.

Local performers will be out to prove that they are serious contenders in the dancehall genre which is proving to be surpassing other genres like museve.

What is set to be seen is how the main act at the show will perform in a foreign land where some visiting artistes returned disappointed as their Zimbabwean counterparts would have put up top notch performances.

Rocking it on the turntables will be the likes of Digital One Sound, Judgement Yard, MaddUnit Family, AshStyles & Nivek, Templeman &Garry B, MOB Mafia, Champion Sound, Mighty Ducks, Trenchtown and Black Identity.

Tickets for the show will be selling for $5 for the general entrance while VIP will cost $20.
