CHAPUNGU maintained their unbeaten home run with a stunning come-from-behind win over Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Ascot Stadium yesterday.
Three second half goals from Maxwell Mavhuto, Charles Murisa and a Passmore Bernard own goal outweighed Ishmael Lawe’s first half goal.
The result means the airmen remain unbeaten at home after they managed to avoid defeat in all their matches against some big opponents like Dynamos, whom they beat 1-0, Caps United and ZPC Kariba, who crashed to 3-0 losses, FC Platinum, Hwange and Highlanders.
The Bulawayo side seemed destined to be the first team to beat Chapungu in Gweru, but when temperatures dropped remarkably in the second half, they lost their first half cohesion.
Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino was happy that their fine home run still remains intact and hailed his charges for the relentless attack in the second half.
“Our strategy was to attack and attack and the boys did just that which worked very well for us. The win is good for the people of Gweru to see their team winning and we want to maintain that,” Nyikadzino said.

Losing coach Joey Antipas lamented the harsh weather and a dubious penalty for the loss.
