Utakataka Express lost some of its key members among them Willard “Willo” Loti, Saviours Karikodzi, Donald Mashiri, Lawrence “Kimbangu” Shonga and Alois “Suzuki” Rongezani, who then formed the new outfit led by Wilson Chitete.

Speaking to NewsDay from his South Africa base, band manager Willo said they were happy to be coming back home.

“Our plan was to record our album in South Africa and come back home where most of our fans are so as to market it. We have been staging shows here (South Africa) and we are going to continue with our projects in our motherland,” Willo said.

He said the album was being received well by Zimbabweans across the Limpopo.

“Our album proves that we are serious contenders on the showbiz scene and we are happy that it is doing well here and hope it will be well received back home [Zimbabwe],” Willo said.

Chikwata Express recently released their debut six-track album Nguva yeKurarama which was recorded at P K Studios in South Africa and will be marketed by local record label Diamond Studios.

Tracks that make up the album are Wapindwa Nei, Rudo Haruna Shasha, Nguva Yekurarama, Ndozvamafunga, Kusiyana kwemarudzi and Chingokumbira kuna Mwari. Willo said the album would be followed by a DVD and they will soon start shooting the videos.
