CHIREDZI . . . . . . . . . (1)1 ZPC KARIBA . . . . . . .(0)1 ZPC Kariba kept their unbeaten record intact after they were held to a one-all stalemate by Chiredzi FC in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Chishamiso Stadium yesterday.

The Saul Chaminuka-coached side is still unbeaten in 18 matches and have collected 32 points, level with leaders Highlanders and third-placed Dynamos.

But all that could change if Caps United beat Hwange at the Colliery this afternoon.

The visitors scored an own-goal just three minutes into the match through Ephraim Mwinga after pressure from the host’s striker David Temwanjira, but they responded through Tsepo Ranthokoane.

Chiredzi coach Gishon Ntini said he was happy to collect a point against his impressive counterparts, saying he was confident of avoiding the dreaded chop. “We are happy with the draw. The boys played really well, but we are just hoping to continue collecting crucial points. But what we can say is that we are going to avoid relegation,” he said.

His counterpart Chaminuka tried to evade reporters after the match.

“Report what you saw. I think you saw it, I don’t want to put words into your mouth. Okay, we failed to score and create chances,” he said.
