The duo performed before a sizeable crowd that included businesspeople and diplomats that were invited for the intimate event.

Mahubaba played the mbira and sang while Muzondo came in with poetry that had the audience spellbound.

The duo performed tracks like Uzuri, themed along the lines of the fashion label, Nyarara and Jaivha.

Speaking on the sidelines of the performance Mahubaba said they were just trying out a new concept that is likely to be taken to bigger stages with time.

“We never really had enough time to rehearse, but we are happy with the response,” she said.

“There was audience participation as they clapped, danced and they enjoyed it.

“It was also good that all the three languages Shona, Ndebele and English were understood by the audience. She said she was happy with the effect that Muzondo’s poetry brought to her set.

Founder of Uzuri Creations Joy Mugatti Rusike was thankful to the guests who she said had supported her dream for the past one year. “It started as just an idea that I posted on Facebook and you have stood by me,” she said.

“Most of the work has been done via word of mouth. “I thank God that the event was a great success as everything went according to plan.”

Joy also thanked her models none of whom are professional, but are all married who dedicated their time to her cause.
