It was pomp and fanfare at the show as the dendera exponent bade farewell to hundreds of fans who thronged the venue.

In a show of solidarity, Sulu shared the stage with sungura maestro Alick Macheso, whom he had engaged for joint shows in Harare, Chinhoyi and Gweru in preparation for the tour.

As it has not been all rosy on the local showbiz scene with several shows flopping, from the numbers that thronged the venue and scenes witnessed at the show, it proved Macheso and Sulu were enjoying the fruits of combined shows.

Both Sulu and Macheso took fans down memory lane with their playlist that was made up of yesteryear hits and songs from their forthcoming albums, leaving fans clamouring for more.

Sulu belted out hits by his late father Simon like Gotwe, Saina and Magobo while from Macheso’s playlist songs like Amai vaRubhi, Shedia and Mundikumbuke sent fans into frenzy.

Both musicians’ fans were kept on their toes with Sulu performing as an opening act. Interestingly, fans remained at the venue for Macheso’s performance.

Speaking to NewsDay on the sidelines of the show, Sulu’s publicist Joe Nyamungoma thanked Macheso for the support.

“Our combination with Macheso has come a long way and we are going to be working together with Baba Sharo, uniting our fans,” Nyamungoma said.

“As Dendera Kings, we are committed to entertaining people and will work hard to please them for their loyal support.”

The three-legged UK tour, which is being put together by Sulu’s recently-registered production and promotion company, Dendera Entertainment, will feature dancehall chanter Freeman.

The Nhambarakishoni singer and Joina City hit-maker are expected to leave Zimbabwe tomorrow and scheduled to kick-start their shows at the Dunstable Leisure Centre in Luton on August 29.

The following night, Sulu and Freeman will serenade fans at Club Platinum in Coventry, before rounding off with a family show at the Aug Sol House in Manchester.

Sulu returns to the UK barely five months after having been there in March with superstar Oliver Mtukudzi for a tour dubbed Greatest Hits Tour that saw them performing at Royal Regency in London, Leicester and Manchester.
