Hwange target Caps United revenge

HWANGE will be looking to exact some revenge on Caps United when the two sides, looking to keep pace with the leading teams on the log table, meet at the Colliery this afternoon in a Castle Premiership match.

It is the only Premier Soccer League fixture that is lined up for the day as the other 14 league teams were in action yesterday.

Hwange lost 2-1 to their opponents in the reverse fixture at the National Sports Stadium at the end of June with Dominic Chungwa and Leonard Fiyado’s second half goals cancelling out Gilbert Zulu’s first half effort.

It was Hwange’s second loss on their three-match losing streak, form which almost threatened what had been a brilliant season that far.

Their form has improved since then with five points from a possible nine in their last three matches to move back into the top eight.

The home side will be without Phakamani Dube due to suspension after he picked his third yellow card of the season last Saturday in the 0-0 draw against ZPC Kariba at Gwanzura Stadium.

But they are coming against a side who have been in the ascendancy in recent weeks. Barring the blip against Dynamos in their back-to- back encounters, Caps United have collected 16 points from a possible 21 points to move right back into the title matrix.

The Green Machine welcome utility man Dominic Mukandi who sat out the team’s 1-0 win over Chicken Inn on Sunday. Chungwa should also return from an injury for this match but there are injury concerns over Kelvin Bulaji who lasted just 28 minutes in the Sunday match before limping off, some minutes after he had scored for his side. Centre-back David Chipala is still out injured so Malawian George Nyirenda should retain his position at the heart of defence to partner Steven Makatuka.
