COMEDIAN Carl Joshua Ncube last week had to cancel a series of shows owing to lack of proper preparation by the organisers.
Ncube told NewsDay that shows at Hala Hotels and Properties had to be cancelled after one of his shows recorded near-zero attendance.
The development led to the comedian shelving performances in Bindura, Karoi and Chimanimani.
“I am deeply saddened by this development and will be making every effort to see how we can make alternative arrangements to get you Carl Joshua Ncube comedy shows in the near future! #terrible,” he posted on social network site Facebook.
The shows were part of his national tour dubbed FeelGooZImbabwe which have already seen him perform in Norton, Kariba and Harare.
“We have only cancelled the shows at the Hala Hotels because for some reason the hotels were not aware of the decision by their head office for me to do shows.
As a result we noticed from the Domboshawa show where no-one came that no marketing or advertising had been done at any of the other hotels,” he said.
“The way the tours work is that we give promoters a set of conditions that need to be met to do a show.”
Ncube this weekend travels to the east for performances in Mutare alongside fellow comedian Q.
“Ncube and his band of merry men that include rising star of comedy Q and the youngster from the eastern part of the country, Long John, will send the residents of Mutare into rapturous laughter in what is being dubbed the FeelGoodZimbabwe Comedy tour,” read a statement from the comedian.
“Ncube is no stranger to Mutare as he went to school at Mutare Junior School.
He also performed stand-up comedy in Mutare when he first introduced Zimbabwe to his brand of stand-up comedy in 2010.
On Saturday they perform at the Golden Peacock Hotels and Villas.
“The idea of the tour is to setup comedy nights around Zimbabwe and so far I have concluded deals to have monthly comedy slots in Kariba, Kadoma and Norton to date,” he said.
“Comedians like Q have already benefitted from the comedy circuit setup in Harare and now I can now begin to introduce some of these comedians to the rest of the country through this ground breaking tour.”
Ncube said he would follow up his national tour with a tour to South Africa, United Kingdom and Australia before capping it off with Canada.
