Anton Bali Nugroao, Economic and Trade Affairs officer at the Indonesian Embassy, told NewsDay during commemorations to mark the 69th Indonesian Independence Day on Wednesday that the expo would run from October 8 to 12.

“For businesspeople wishing to interact with business people from Indonesia, the trade expo is the place to be. Right now, about 25 businesspeople, have expressed their interest to participate at the trade expo. It’s open to anybody, so this is an important opportunity to create links with Indonesian businesses,” Nugroao said.

He said Jakarta was working on modalities to boost trade linkages between the two countries.

Nugroao said they would also encourage Indonesian businesses to exhibit at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

“We are trying to encourage businesspeople from Indonesia and Zimbabwe to get to know each other so that those from Indonesia can learn about the opportunities Zimbabwe has to offer and vice versa.

“Trade between the two countries has been quite good although the trade balance has been in favour of Zimbabwe, but we feel we should have more of our businesspeople interacting with business-people here so that they realise business opportunities that are available in Zimbabwe,” said Nugroao.
