ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) has finalised its rationalisation exercise which has seen the confirmation of the reduction of franchises from five to four, with Masvingo-based Southern Rocks falling by the wayside.

The rationalisation programme is part of the raft of measure proposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and agreed to by ZC in a bid to bring the local association out of its financial programmes.
The remaining franchises are Mashonaland Eagles, Matabeleland Tuskers, MidWest Rhinos and Mountaineers.
ZC said in a statement yesterday: “This has led to a review of the franchise positions with, among other changes, the post of franchise chief executive officer falling away. Franchises will now be headed by administrators, who have been appointed as follows: Terry Nyakurimwa — Mashonaland Eagles; Stanley Staddon — Matabeleland Tuskers; Kenyon Ziehl — MidWest Rhinos and Givemore Makoni — Mountaineers.
“As part of the rationalisation, the franchises will now report directly to the ZC head office. With regards to the national team technical staff, ZC is revising earlier proposals by its cricket committee on an appropriate structure.”
