MOSES Chunga has been fired as Chiredzi Football Club coach.

The nomadic coach’s romance with the Lowveld side was confirmed late yesterday after NewsDay Sport had earlier in the day broken the story on its website. The club’s executive met yesterday to deliberate on the issue of the club’s ownership structure.
The meeting took over three hours and was also attended by the Lowveld-based football side’s stakeholders.
During the meeting, Chunga was accused of insubordination and running parallel structures and the executive believed that he was dragging the team’s name into the mud.
Both Chiredzi FC boss Charles Muchatukwa, who chaired the meeting, and Chunga were not reachable for comment last night.
But another executive member who refused to be named told NewsDay Sport that the major reason Chunga was fired was because of poor results.
“We have decided to fire Chunga. We were no longer working in good faith with him. He was running parallel structures,” he said.

“How do you work with someone who says he has registered other executive members in Harare? He [Chunga] was not in the meeting, but the meeting was well attended. We had Chief Tsvovani and Members of Parliament in Chiredzi Darlington Chiwa [Chiredzi West], Denford Masiya [Chiredzi East] and others. And we all agreed that Chunga should go.”
The problems started almost a month ago after Chunga was accused by the club’s executive of looting $4 000 from gatetakings after the Dynamos home match.
Since then, it has not been well at the Lowveld-based side as Chunga took a dig at the club’s executive for being newcomers in the world of football and last week accused them of being fishmongers.
Chunga, at one time, quit his post, but eventually made a sensational U-turn after which the Premier Soccer League (PSL) convened a meeting to try and resolve their differences.
Hippo Valley Secondary school teacher Tinashe Zvishiri is now tipped to take over as acting head coach.
Chiredzi are struggling in their debut season in the Premiership as they have collected just seven points from their opening 13 matches.
They have not registered a win at home, their only victory coming against Bantu Rovers in Bulawayo while they drew 1-1 against ZPC Kariba at Gwanzura this weekend.
Chunga is the first coach to be fired in the PSL this season with other underfire coaches like Bigboy Mawiwi of Harare City and Triangle’s Biggie Zuze having survived the chop after a poor start to the season.
