The festival will be held under the theme Express, Communicate and Transform.

The Jesuit schools in Zimbabwe education representative Father Joe Arimoso SJ said the festival was aimed at celebrating talent in young people in music and dance.

“The AMDG High Schools music and dance festival is part of unlocking the future of the Jesuit Recovery and Development Programme which seeks to strengthen the renewal of Jesuit Education traditions in Zimbabwe,” Father Joe Arimoso SJ said.

“With this festival we seek to encourage schools to acknowledge music and dance as part of the mainstream expressive arts curriculum,”

He said Jesuit Education was not only concerned about cognitive and academic excellence such as exam results but it further develops learners towards the total formation of their emotional, spiritual and physical faculties.

He said participants have entered in the two categories of dance and music where outstanding performers will walk away with various cash prizes.

All participants will receive certificates courtesy of the Zimbabwe College of Music.

At its inception in 2010, the AMDG Music and Dance Festival was supported renowned musicians such as Pauline Mupariwa, the Late Taku Mafika among others.

An array of artists like gospel musician Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave, Brian Nyahuma, jazz sensation Bob Nyabinde, Alexio Kawara, Extra Large and XQ are expected to grace the event.

The Zimbabwe College of Music is the strategic arts education partner for the festival while Bob Nyabinde remains the patron of the festival since its inception.
