ONE of the leading players in the fuel sector, Sakunda, has launched a fuel and loyalty card as it bids to grow its market share in the highly competitive fuel industry.

The introduction of the cards comes after Sakunda withdrew fuel coupons, saying it would launch a new product.

The fuel card allows customers to enjoy convenient, secure and manageable fuel services and enables one to purchase fuel using V payments, Visa and ZimSwitch from anywhere in the world.

The loyalty card accrues points for fuel purchased at Sakunda service stations.

The move means that Zimbabweans in the Diaspora could purchase fuel for their relatives.

Speaking at the launch of the fuel and loyalty cards on Tuesday, Energy and Power Development minister Dzikamai Mavhaire said innovation played a key role in spurring the growth of organisations and in turn grows economies by unlocking latent market value.

Mavhaire said innovation enabled economy growth through value creation and value capture by releasing value to customers through articulating their needs and fulfilling them.

He said the fuel card was set to revolutionise the way individuals and the corporate world works.

“The Sakunda Fuel Card will improve operations of organisations managing fleet of buses, light and bulk vehicles by offering better fuel management solutions,” Mavhaire said.

He said the new card would eliminate abuses and excesses around fuel use by employees.
